Checking
In to Edingburgh Airport
The
check-in area is on the ground floor of the terminal building.
All
flight numbers and destinations are displayed on the monitors
at the entrance to the terminal, indicating which desk to check
in at.
Please
check your ticket or contact your airline for advice on checking
in times, but as a general guide:
Long-haul
flights – check in three hours prior to departure.
European
flights – check in two hours before departure.
UK
and Ireland flights – check in one hour prior
to departure.
Self
service check-in
Self
service check-in (online and kiosk) is available to some passengers
departing from Edinburgh and can be a great way to save time
on your journey through the airport. Please select the link
in the left hand menu to see if this currently applies to your
airline and destination.
Self
service check-in is speedy, simple and safe. With or without
luggage, you can sail through the airport, chose your seat and
have your boarding card in minutes.
Once
you’ve taken your bags to the fast bag drop location,
you’ll have plenty of time to enjoy our shops, bars and
cafes, or just relax before your flight.
More
and more airlines are offering self service check-in (both online
and kiosk) - ask your airline at the time of booking whether
this option is available to you, or visit the airline website
for further information.*
At
Edinburgh Airport there are self service check-in kiosks (located
near the standard check-in desks) for passengers flying with
the following airlines:
bmibaby/bmi
British Midland - please note that if you are travelling on
a standard or bmibaby tiny fare, you must use the self check-in
machines.
British Airways
Please keep your baggage close by and take care of credit cards,
passports and other important documents when using the kiosks.
Airline staff will be on hand should you need any assistance.
Airlines
offering online check-in at Edinburgh Airport
*Please
note that some passengers and flight destinations are not eligible
for self service check-in. Please confirm if this service is
available to you at the time of booking or visit the airline
website to find out about service limitations.
Please
also note that passengers who have checked in online still have
to arrive in good time for their flight – pay close attention
to the times given by the airlines for dropping bags, collecting
boarding cards and arriving at the gate.
Boarding
Keep
an eye on the television monitors listing flight departures
for your destination, boarding time and gate number. Boarding
usually begins around 45 minutes before departure.
